Family members with positive BTA tuberculosis TB are vulnerable to be infected due to regular contact. However, awareness of early detection is still low, resulting in low rates of TB suspect identification and low detection of new cases in the community health centre. The study was aimed to measure the proportion of contacts in the house for people attending early detection for pulmonary tuberculosis, and to analyse the influence of perception of contacts to the behavior of early detection. Data collected were analysed using univariate, bivariate chi square and multivariate with cox regression. The proportion of contact in the house who underwent early detection is still low The perception of vulnerability and threat were found to be associated with the early detection behavior.
Factors related to non-conversion smear positive among patients with pulmonary tuberculosis in the city of Semarang. The purpose of this study was to identify factors related to non-conversion of smear positive in treatment of new tuberculosis cases. This study used a case control design and sampling by proportional random sampling technique. Samples were patients with smear grade positive pulmonary tuberculosis who were new cases of intensive phase of treatment and have repeated sputum examination. The numbers of samples in this research were sample cases and controls. The factors associated with the conversion of smear positive pulmonary tuberculosis treatment of new cases were age, sex, drug side effects, comorbidities and gradation smear results. The three variables that proved to jointly influence the incidence of smear positive conversion in the treatment of new cases of pulmonary tuberculosis were sputum smear results gradation, comorbidities and gender.
