Why not, really? I wanted to try one and having the ebook of it already would make things a little easier for me on my first audiobook experience. The story of Between the Lines itself has a lot of issues, but the narrators made it so much better for me. The characters themselves are a mixed bag, a phrase that describes this novel in its entirety. Oh boy, he is a douchecanoe of the highest degree and being in his head was infuriating.
He is every bit the spoiled Hollywood golden boy with the inability to respect women. This is YA, people. Graham and Emma, though? Incredibly adorable. All their mornings of running together and all the conversations they had won me over and they are my ship for this series.
Speaking of Brooke, women in this novel. Outside the circle of Emma and her friends and fellow female stars of School Pride , women are basically evil. Their judgmental attitudes are generally supported by the characters being written as clingy or rude. Women are not the enemy! How many times do I have to say this?! Funny to see all this coming from the author who wrote Easy , but Easy was also problematic in how it approached other women sometimes.
Plus Chloe is the evil stepmom and such a cliche. I often receive books for review, but this does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
