Casey Donovan has issues: hair, height and uncontrollable trips to the 19th century! Protocol pressures her to tell their hosts that he is her brother and when Casey finds she has a handsome, wealthy and unwanted suitor, something changes in Nate. When they return to the present, things go back to the way they were before: Casey parked on the bottom of the rung of the social ladder and Nate perched high on the very the top.
Except this time her heart is broken. Plus, her best friend is mad, her parents are split up, and her younger brother gets escorted home by the police. The only thing that could make life worse is if, by some strange twist of fate, she took Nate back to the past again. Clockwise is one of the more fun, and cute reads that I have come across in a while. As most of you know, I am a fan of the dramatic young adult novel, wrought with passion and danger and all those kind of things. Clockwise was like a breath of fresh air.
A time travelling fifteen year old, in love with the sports star of her school who also happens to be taken by the head cheerleader , accidentally brings him back in time with her. And not only once. It just sounds like fun, right? And it was. Strauss has written Clockwise in a way that is light-hearted, and yet not silly. I just really enjoyed reading this novel.
However, I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Casey the main character , and her travels back in time to Her interactions with the people there were interesting to read. I was never bored once with Clockwise , and found myself a little disappointed when it ended.
The ending held a really sweet surprise for readers, and I found myself smiling along with Casey at the discovery. It was really quite adorable. I am really interested as to how the series is furthered, and am most definitely going to continue to read about Casey, and her antics in the past.
The story of Clockwise was light and interesting, and I would recommend it to you if you are caught between books, and looking for a sweet, fun read to tide you over. All rights reserved. Added by 1 of our members. Casey Donovan has issues: hair, height, and uncontrollable trips to the 19th century! And now this - she's accidentally taken Nate Mackenzie, the cutest boy in the school, back in time. It's the eve of the American Civil War, and protocol pressures Casey to tell their hosts that Nate is her brother. No one is more surprised than she is when they are forced to share a one-room workers' cabin. Super awkward.
